SafePro CO2 fire extinguisher for electrical rooms and equipment

The SafePro CO2 fire extinguisher is filled with carbon dioxide gas, stored as a liquid under pressure in a strong cylinder. When used, it comes out of the horn as a cold white cloud that pushes away the oxygen around the fire. Because the gas simply spreads into the air, a CO2 fire extinguisher leaves no powder or water on the equipment, which is why it is kept next to electrical panels, UPS rooms, server racks and machine controls.

Fire classes and where CO2 fits

The manufacturer lists it for Class B (flammable liquids such as oil, petrol and solvents) and Class C (flammable gases). It is also the long-standing choice for fires in live electrical equipment. It is not the right pick for deep-seated fires in wood, paper or cloth, where the material can smoulder again once the gas clears.

Choosing between 1, 2, 3 and 4.5 kg

CO2 cylinders are heavier than they look because the steel shell has to hold the gas at high pressure. The 1 kg and 2 kg sizes are easy for anyone to carry. The 3 kg and 4.5 kg sizes give a longer discharge for bigger panel rooms and plant areas. For a large electrical yard, see the SafePro CO2 trolley fire extinguisher.

Handling tips

  • Hold the horn only by its handle; the discharge is very cold.
  • In small closed rooms, leave once the fire is out and air the room, as CO2 lowers the oxygen level.
  • Pair it with an ABC fire extinguisher where paper and cartons are also stored.

Frequently asked questions

Still not sure which option fits your site? Ask us and we will suggest the right one.

Ask on WhatsApp
Does a CO2 fire extinguisher have a pressure gauge?

CO2 units are normally checked by weight rather than by a gauge, because the gas is stored as a liquid. A service technician weighs the cylinder to confirm it is full.

Will CO2 damage computers or panels?

It leaves no residue, which is why it is popular for electronics. Avoid spraying the very cold gas directly on delicate parts from close range.

Which size is right for an electrical panel room?

Many small panel rooms keep a 2 kg or 3 kg unit; larger rooms use 4.5 kg or more than one unit. Tell us the room size and number of panels and we will suggest a setup.

Why is the horn so wide?

The horn slows the gas down and directs the cloud onto the fire, so it covers the base of the flames instead of blowing them around.
