SafePro BC fire extinguisher for liquid and gas fire risks
The SafePro BC fire extinguisher uses BC dry chemical powder (DCP) made for two fire classes: Class B (petrol, diesel, kerosene, oil, paint, thinner) and Class C (LPG, CNG and other flammable gases). It is a common choice for places that store or handle fuel and gas, such as generator rooms, boiler houses, gas banks and paint stores.
You will find it with our other BC fire extinguishers in the fire extinguishers range from SafePro. Use the buttons above to choose the type and size.
Stored pressure or cartridge type: what is the difference?
- Stored pressure: the powder and the expellant gas sit together in one body, which stays under pressure all the time. A gauge on the valve lets you see the pressure at a glance. It is light, simple and suits most indoor spots.
- Cartridge type: the body holds only powder and is not under pressure. A small gas cartridge fitted to the unit is opened when you operate it, and that gas pushes the powder out. Many factories prefer it because the cartridge and powder can be checked and refilled separately.
Picking the size
4 kg units are easy to lift and suit pump rooms, small workshops and vehicles. 6 kg is the usual pick for boiler rooms and stores. 9 kg is chosen for bigger sheds and fuel handling areas. For yards and tank farms, the SafePro BC trolley fire extinguisher carries 25 to 75 kg on wheels.
BC or ABC powder?
BC powder is aimed at liquid and gas fires. If the area also has wood, paper, cartons or cloth that could catch fire, an ABC unit such as the SafePro ABC fire extinguisher covers Class A as well. Many sites keep both, placed by the risk around them.
