Newage Watershield percolating fire hose for outdoor fires
The Newage Watershield percolating fire hose is built for fires on open ground. A controlled amount of water seeps through the jacket, so the outside of the hose stays wet while it lies on hot soil, dry grass or burning debris. That wet skin helps protect the hose from embers and radiant heat, which a dry jacket would not survive as well.

What makes Watershield different
- Jacket woven from synthetic yarn for strength.
- Controlled percolation: low friction and good strength, with the lightness and flexibility of a lined hose and the heat resistance of a traditional flax hose.
- Light to carry over long distances, so a small crew can run several lengths.
- Working pressure of 12 bar in the 63 mm size, as published by the maker.
Where a percolating hose is used
Forest departments, plantations, solar parks, warehouses with open yards and unmanned sites use it for grass and bush fires. It also serves for irrigation and wash-down work on farms. For hose boxes inside buildings, a non-percolating hose such as the Newage 63 mm x 15 m fire hose pipe is the usual choice, because a percolating hose leaves a damp trail when charged.
Coupling choice
Pick gunmetal for a classic fit with older hydrant gear, or SS-304 for lighter weight and better looks on wet sites. Both are 63 mm instantaneous and work with a short branch pipe or any standard 63 mm nozzle.
