HICARE fire proximity suits let fire teams and furnace crews work close to intense radiant heat. Three fabrics and 2, 3 or 4 layers; each suit comes with coat, pant, hood, gloves, shoes and a storage bag.
HICARE fire proximity suit
A fire proximity suit is a full body suit for working near, but not inside, a fire or a source of intense radiant heat: oil and gas fires, furnace breakouts, tapping and molten metal, aircraft and tank fires. The reflective outer turns back radiant heat and the inner layers slow down the heat that gets through. Each HICARE suit comes as a set of coat, pant, hood with visor, gloves, shoes and a storage bag.
Choose the fabric
Alumaster aluminised: aluminised outer for industrial radiant heat up to about 800°C and convection heat up to about 500°C (maker’s rating). The economical proximity suit. BA set provision on request (extra).
Para aramid (Kevlar): 480 GSM heavy duty para aramid with woollen felt and FR cotton inside. Tough against abrasion, sparks and splash.
Flare Defend aluminized aramid: 460 GSM aluminized aramid with a thermal barrier, wool felt and cotton, rated by the maker for heat up to about 1400°C for short exposure. The highest heat range here.
2, 3 or 4 layers
More layers mean more insulation and longer safe time near the heat, but a heavier suit. Two layers suit short tasks and training; four layers suit long or close exposure. For walking into flames, an aluminized fire entry suit is needed instead. For lighter tasks see the aluminized jacket and gloves.
