HICARE Kevlar (para aramid) fire safety gloves for furnaces, foundries, glass and steel plants and welding bays. Three builds and four lengths, from light leather Kevlar to heavy 750 GSM three layer gloves.

HICARE Kevlar fire safety gloves

Kevlar gloves are made from para aramid fabric, a fibre that does not melt or drip and holds its strength at high temperature. That makes them the everyday glove for handling hot parts, moulds, ladles and furnace doors. HICARE makes them in three builds and up to 22 inch length, so you can match the glove to the heat and the reach of the job.

Which Kevlar glove do you need?

  • Leather Kevlar (480 GSM): heavy duty 480 GSM aramid with leather, for short contact with hot parts, at roughly 350 to 450°C (maker’s rating). The lightest on the budget.
  • Kevlar 2 layer: Kevlar outer with a heat resistant inner layer, for regular work around furnaces and ovens, up to about 500°C.
  • Kevlar 750 GSM HQ (3 layer): 750 GSM aramid outer, woollen heat resistant lining and a flame retardant third layer, for the hottest jobs such as foundry and ladle work, rated by the maker for about 1000 to 1200°C contact heat for short periods.

Choose the length by how far the heat reaches: 14 inch covers the wrist, 16 and 18 inch cover the forearm and 22 inch reaches the elbow for deep furnace work.

Where they are used

Steel and aluminium plants, foundries, forging, glass and ceramic units, heat treatment shops, bakeries with large ovens and welding bays. For radiant heat close to a fire or furnace mouth, see the aluminized heat resistant gloves. Pair the gloves with Kevlar hand sleeves or a heat resistant apron, or browse all fire safety gloves.

Frequently asked questions

Still not sure which option fits your site? Ask us and we will suggest the right one.

Ask on WhatsApp
Are Kevlar gloves fireproof?

No glove is fireproof. Kevlar (para aramid) resists heat and flame and does not melt, so it protects the hands for the short contact times it is made for. Pick a heavier build for higher heat.

What is the difference between 2 layer and 750 GSM gloves?

The 750 GSM glove uses a heavier aramid outer and has a third, flame retardant layer, so it handles more heat for longer. The 2 layer glove is lighter and easier to work in.

Which length should I buy?

14 inch for bench work, 16 or 18 inch when the forearm is near the heat, and 22 inch for reaching into furnaces and ovens.
