HICARE welding blankets catch sparks, spatter and slag during welding, cutting and grinding: silicone coated fiberglass, ceramic vermiculite coated fiberglass with SS wire, and high silica cloth sold by the metre.
HICARE welding blankets
A welding blanket is laid over or hung around the work area during welding, gas cutting and grinding, so sparks, spatter and hot slag cannot reach cables, machines, wooden floors or anything that can burn. It is one of the simplest hot work controls on a site. HICARE makes three grades.
Which welding blanket?
Silicone coated: glass fabric coated on one or both sides, up to about 0.6 mm thick, brick red or black, for heat up to about 550 to 800°C (maker’s rating). Good for general welding and grinding.
Ceramic vermiculite coated: 2 mm thick, vermiculite coated and reinforced with SS wires, edges seamed with fiberglass tape. Rated by the maker for about 1260°C continuous, for heavy welding and slag.
High silica: about 98% silica, 1.2 mm thick, working temperature about 1000 to 1100°C. Sold per metre so you can cut curtains and covers to size.
