HICARE aluminized gloves reflect radiant heat away from the hands, for work near furnace mouths, molten metal and fires. Aluminized aramid in four lengths, or the economical Alumaster aluminized fiberglass glove.

HICARE aluminized heat resistant gloves

An aluminized glove has a shiny aluminium coated outer that reflects most of the radiant heat coming from a furnace, a pour or a fire. That keeps the glove, and the hand inside, much cooler than a plain fabric glove. HICARE makes two versions.

Aluminized aramid or Alumaster?

  • Aluminized aramid: 480 GSM aramid on the palm for grip and wear, aluminized aramid on the back of the hand, woollen heat resistant lining and FR cotton inside. Rated by the maker for heat up to about 1000°C for short periods. 14, 16, 18 and 22 inch.
  • Alumaster aluminized fiberglass: aluminized fiberglass outer with woollen felt inside, for radiant heat up to about 350°C. A lower cost glove for lighter jobs. 14 inch.

Where they are used

Furnace and kiln openings, tapping and pouring of molten metal, glass plants, boiler maintenance and fire fighting near a fire. For contact heat (holding hot parts) the Kevlar fire safety gloves are a better fit. Complete the kit with an aluminized hood, aluminized jacket or a full fire proximity suit.

Frequently asked questions

Still not sure which option fits your site? Ask us and we will suggest the right one.

Ask on WhatsApp
What does aluminized mean?

The outer fabric has a thin aluminium coating that reflects radiant heat. It works best against the heat you feel from a distance, such as a furnace or fire.

Can I hold hot objects with aluminized gloves?

They are made mainly for radiant heat. For holding hot parts, Kevlar gloves with a thick palm are better.

How do I clean aluminized gloves?

Wipe the aluminized surface with a damp cloth. Do not wash or fold them hard, as creases damage the coating.
