HICARE leg guards (leggings) protect the shins and the top of the shoes from radiant heat, sparks and molten splash: aluminized fiberglass 16 inch, or heavy duty aramid 18 inch with woollen insulation.
HICARE heat resistant leg guard
Leg guards strap over the trouser and shoe to stop sparks, spatter and molten metal from reaching the shin and the gap at the top of the shoe. They are standard in foundries, steel plants and welding bays. HICARE makes two types with adjustable straps.
Aluminized (16 inch): aluminized fiberglass stitched with Kevlar thread, heat resistant up to about 500°C (maker’s rating), for radiant heat.
Aramid (18 inch): 480 GSM heavy duty aramid with woollen heat resistant insulation inside, for sparks, splash and contact heat.
