SafePro fire hydrant stand post for outdoor yard hydrants
A fire hydrant stand post is the vertical pipe that rises out of the ground from an underground hydrant ring main and holds the hydrant valve at a working height. You see them around factories, warehouses, refineries, hospitals and large campuses, usually painted red and placed along roads where hoses can reach the buildings. The SafePro fire hydrant stand post comes with a single head or a double head.
It is in our stand post hydrants category, part of fire hydrant fittings from SafePro.
Single head or double head stand post?
- Single head: takes one hydrant valve. Suits smaller yards and points where one hose line covers the area.
- Double head: takes two valves, so two hose lines can work from one post. Common at large sheds, tank farms and loading bays.
The head type should match the valve you plan to fit. A single head usually pairs with the single outlet landing valve; a double head pairs with two single valves or a double outlet landing valve, depending on the layout.
How a stand post fits into a yard hydrant
The bottom of the stand post joins the underground main through a flange. The top carries the valve. A hose box nearby keeps the RRL fire hose pipe and branch pipe ready, so the crew can connect and charge the line in a short time. Spacing and depth of the posts come from the site’s fire drawing.
