Why your fire wardens need more than basic training
Basic fire safety training teaches every employee to raise the alarm, use an extinguisher and get out. Fire wardens need more: they decide when to fight a fire and when to leave, they run the hose reel or hydrant if the fire is beyond an extinguisher, and they make sure nobody is left behind. Those decisions have to be practised before the day they are needed.
This advanced course is built around your site: your hose reels, hydrant valves and fire hoses, your floors and your assembly point. Wardens practise on the equipment they will actually use.
What a typical day looks like
- Classroom: fire behaviour, the warden's role and your emergency plan.
- Equipment practice: extinguishers, hose reel and hydrant hose drill in pairs.
- Floor walk: exits, refuge areas, alarm points and the assembly point.
- Mini drill: a short evacuation led by the wardens, with a debrief.
Finish with a full fire mock drill for the whole site, and book a fire safety audit to find equipment gaps.
