Why gas instead of water or powder
In a server room, panel room or archive, the equipment and records are often worth more than the building. Sprinklers and powder would put out the fire but ruin what you are protecting. A gas suppression system floods the room with an agent that puts out the fire and leaves no residue, so operations can restart quickly.
Clean agent, CO2 or panel flooding
- Clean agent systems for rooms where people work, such as server rooms and control rooms.
- CO2 systems for unoccupied risks such as DG enclosures, panel rooms and machinery spaces.
- Panel flooding systems: a heat-sensing tube inside each electrical panel that releases the agent right where the fire starts.
For portable protection in the same rooms, keep clean agent and CO2 fire extinguishers near the door, and add fire alarm detection to the rest of the building.
