Rags soaked with oil, solvents, thinners or linseed oil can heat up and catch fire on their own (spontaneous combustion), or be lit by a stray spark if left in an open bin. An oily waste can keeps them shut away. The Justrite can’s lid opens to no more than 60 degrees with the foot pedal and closes on its own, limiting air to the rags.
